Ordering a new 3500 2wd, who should I go through?

Picked up my new ram 600 on Apr. 2. Got a call from my dealer today and he said Chrysler notified him and told him to call everyone he sold 600's to and to tell them to PARK THEM. He told me Chrysler told him that they have an issue of freeze plugs just falling out of the motor. He didn't elaborate to much. Said he will know all the facts on Monday the 26th. and will call and let me know what ones are involved. Told me not to do a thing but park it. Mine is now in Dodge's garage locked up. This is not cool.

Black 3500, slt, single rear wheel, quad cab, sport appearence, chrome wheels, long bed and 4 wheel drive. Miss it already. :(

You can check to see if your vehicle is the subject of a uncompleted recall Here

Mine is not. The only warranty work I have had done is the hesitation reflash.

Here is a thread on a person with a missing plug in the rear of the motor causing an oil leak.

It is not a recall, called a Rapid Response Service Action RRT#04-012. some engines did not have enough interference fit on core plugs and could loosen up and leak coolant. Have to have truck cold to test, 8 hours or more sitting then pressurize cooling system and check for leaks. If no leaks then start engine and run

at WOT for 3 minutes after idling for 20 seconds and recheck for leaks.

I had this very thing happen on my PSD. I was loosing a little coolant, but could not see any leaks anywhere.

Dealer finally traced to a bad freeze plug, which they had to drop the transmission to get too.

So, any word on what engines (serial numbers or build dates) this applies to?

freeze plugs

DCTECh called it right. MY salesman just told me today about the pressure test. When I first posted " ram 600 recall already" he said it was a recall. Mechanic said Cummins Motors prescribes this test. Probably a good Idea to get them tested. Wouldn't you think dealers would be calling and letting all 600 owners know?? Hope you all have good luck with your new 600's.

Well, there's getting to be quite a few of us now, and I would have thunk that we would have had some "low coolant" threads.

I'll keep an eye on mine. I believe your salesman incited NEEDLESS panic though - the freeze plugs aren't going to "fall out". This certainly isn't something you have to "park it".

Please.

Well, that includes pretty much ALL of us who are currently driving 600s.

FWIW, I haven't received any call from my dealer.

I received my call from the dealer one week after I picked up the truck... ... ... ... ... ... I was little wired paying that much for a truck and bang she's gone into the shop.

Dealer had to keep the truck overnight to make sure they could cold start it. I guess if it's going to leak it will be while it's cold due to the fact that when metal get's warm it expands.
