Ram Air????

I have the SRT-10 hood on my truck. It has true air induction through the hood and it also allows hot air to escape from underhood. But I think it could have a more beneficial feature. True Ram Air. DCX doesn't make ducting for this truck or the SRT-10 for that matter. I'm looking for a supplier that could fabricate ducting from the hood inlet to the airbox. Also I wanted opinions on if it would be feasible to put inline (inside the ducting) an electric fan to push the air. If all this would work then if we had the mother sucker Turbo it should major affect EGTs,. . I would think. Opinions/Info.

I think you need to add in a valve to shut it off during rain/snow situations. Along with an alternative air source. Maybe rather than a hard connection to the intake, just have it blow cool air on the air filter so that when you close the valve, the intake gets safe, dry air from under the hood.

Yes, your right I'm sure on the valve or just a gravity air drain weep hole would do. That's what the old Ram Air gassers had. I've pulled my hood at a truck stop when I had been driving highway speed through a deluge of a rain storm and not a drop under the hood. I think a combination of the angles on the scoop and the factory deflector tend to direct any real moisture away from the opening. I'm sure there is however dense humidity etc that I wouldn't want going throught he system that a gravity drain or diversion valve would fix. It also provides a real nice growl on its own.

I'm going to try the same thing. My dad knows a guy that owns a plastic fabrication company that I'm going to ask to make the ducting. I just have to wait 6 more months for the '05's to start getting built.

I heard a guy ordered his '05 and got a build date already. When and if you order it I hear you can order that hood from the appearance group. That would have been nice had I known since I had to sell my stocker.



Also, please keep me in mind if you do that thing with the plastic fabrication company. I'd sure take one.

Ditto on the duct work. Maybe we can get a large enough run to make it worthwhile for the plastics ompany (tool up / mold creation is EXPENSIVE)

I have a buddy with a 1998 Camero SS, it has the Air Ram hood that is functional. The air is ran to the inlet of the air filter box, but has a gap between the hood air outlet to the air filter box for rain/water to fall. I live in a place that rains 200 inches a year and he has no problem. Maybe something to think about, My 0. 02

I spoke to a buddy at Roush Racing about that hood. Roush did a bunch of testing on it and found that even on the SRT10 truck... The air hitting the front of the truck swoops OVER that scoup and doesn't provide much benefit to the motor.



If anything, it takes away from the motor by creating a vacuum in front of the scoup.



The hood looks sweet but if your trying to get performance out of it... You may want to plumb air in from another location.
