I know they have been done who did one and how hard was it are my questions. I am only looking for hard facts not opinions so if ya didnt do one I don't need your input.



BTW the potential donor is a 93 Cummins dually and an 88 RC

I think the site is Ramchargers.com but there is a guy that did one and for some reason found it better to shorten the frame of the CTD truck and stuff it under the ram charger body. He had some great pictures of his project.

Just finished the conversion

Doc,

I just finished my conversion from a 1990 W250 to a 1984 RC body on Tuesday. It wasn't too hard just took more time than I originally thought. I started this summer but had a few other things going on as well. Everything bolted right in, very little fabrication required. Just finishing the inside now and paint sometime soon. Hey Doc. Here is the link to thread about my build from Ramcharger Central. There are a few guys over there that have done them also(or are doing them). Read my entire thread. It started as a 1978 RC, but ends up as a 1989. I have more pics than those on the thread and can take pics of anything that you need. If you go for it(I think you should), post a thread about it. I'd love to see it from another perspective and hear your thoughts as you go along. Oo.

It IS 100% possible. I will also say that the most cost effective way to do it (although not necessary)is to buy the right CTD Donor truck. I drove my donor home, pulled it into the garage and started tearing down. I did the math... this made the most sense. I had 98% of what I needed to pull it off. I was also on a budget, so having things right there was huge. Even for comparison sake.



Mine runs great, drives straight, no trouble with the title or emissions. It's still not 100% complete and there are a few things I would have done different, but all in all, it was a fun build. Just time consuming. Believe it or not this swap, was in fact, 99. 9% bolt in. The only thing that I did was to make one hole in the fire wall bigger, just so I did need to relplace the rubber grommet. I will say this. With an OD transmission, there might be some fab work to do on the Trans/t-case adapter cradle, in reference to the frame. Mine is a Non OD trans w/3. 07's.



It is actually my wife's Daily Driver. She Loves it! I'm lucky if she'll let me take anywhere! Heck, it drove us from Littleton Co. to GrandJunction, picked up a 1700lbs ATV trailer... drove to Moab and Ran the Hell's Revenge Trail(4-Low in this thing is too much fun. Love that low end Grunt)... then drove back to G. J. to drop the trailer off and all the way back! Averaged 22+MPG. I was happy about that!



I'm actually in the Decision process of my second one. I want my own! It will be a bit more off-road focused, but still VERY streetable. Same Platform, just want the OD Trans and an Intercooler.

I test drove I dually's ramcharger it is awsome, he did a great job. It looks completely stock. By the Idually don't tell my wife you get 22mpg. She loves the ramcharger I bought from you but hate's the 12 mpg. I think I'm going to have another 4bt conversion coming after the M37.
