Does anyone know where the fuel tank is on a Ramcharger? Am I correct on thinking that it is where the spare tire is on our trucks? If so, has anyone put one of those under their truck yet? Yes, I am making plans... Oo.

Thanks, Robert

YEa the fuel tankon a ramcharger is where the spare is on a pickup. and yea theyll fit. i have never done it. but i have seen trucks with the tank put back there. ITs really nice for wheeling because it helps even out the weight and balance the truck.

Yep, it's right there in the tail portion of the frame. The tank will fit in there, but the cross members on a truck are a bit different than the RC. There is a crossmember on the trucks that you might need to modify or remove. Hard to explain, but I will try to get a pic for you. I ran into this on my RC conversion. I WAS using a '91 truck frame that i had shortend to fit a '78 RC body. The cross members for the fuel tank were being a pain, but I'm sure it can be done. Maybe take a look for an older('78 ish) 3/4 ton that had dual tanks, from the factory. I have one of the rear tanks from one of them and it would have worked great but my tank had a big cut in the top of it. They exist though. Just a thought.

tanks

Some of the ramcharger's had a 35 gallon tank. some did hav a side frame tank also... Most were rear tank however. Most under truck tanks in the trucks were plastic from 72 up to 93... But there were some steel tanks being used during the same time period... . It was due to transportation of the tank issues... It was about where the tank plants were in relation to our assembly plants... . You do not want to use steel tanks for diesel... The diesel will eat galv. in the off and foul up your pump and filters... . and lets not forget RUST... OMG! The plastic ones will last forever...

robert, where you gonna put the spare? i thought about the same thing(extra fuel would be great for evacuations) but didnt want the spare sliding around the bed. finally decided to get a fuel tank-toolbox combo thing (now gotta get the funds, they're proud of those things)

Wonderful. I will use the Ramcharger tank then. I will also look into the Ramchargers 2 tank system.

As for my spare, by the spring the truck will be running 19. 5" Alcoa's Oo. , so that space will be empty anyways.

Thanks again guys. I now have to find a tank... . Robert

I was jsut looking for a tank, is there any differance between the 70's to 93 tanks? All the shapes are the same? Any year better or easyer to use in our trucks? Thanks.
