RamJam is three days of guided 4-wheeling of varying difficulty, from mild to extreme, at two alternating locations, attended by rabid Mopar truck fans.
The event is event sponsored by the Ramcharger Central (RCC). Like the TDR, the RCC is an international fraternity of Mopar truck fans, with the common link being (primarily) Ramchargers, but also any Mopar truck; TrailDusters, Power Wagons, Rams, and Jeeps, in any power configuration. There are several Cummins repowers, lots of fabrication and serious wrench-turners.
Again, RamJam is an annual event held at the alternating locations of Tellico, TN and Moab, UT. While RamJam is occurring at one location it is very common for those nearest the other location to organize a similar un-official RJ event. This year RamJam is at Tellico, and the 'Immitation RJ' is at Moab.
We were at RJ/Moab last year and it was THE most amazing 4-wheeling I have ever done, and I was a passenger. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular, and wheeling with 30-plus well-equipped rigs was awesome.
Imagine - Three FULL days of guided wheeling by local Utah Ramcharger Central 4-wheelers on awesome trails. My entire understanding of 4-wheeling was comletely redefined by watching these truck, most daily drivers, going up and down obstacles that I would hot have thought possible in a full-size rig.
Any 4wd vehicle can do Moab - ANY. The better equipped the more obstacles the truck can handle, and the difficult obstacles have by-passes, and they are regularly used.
The best equipment upgrades are simple - good tires, and differential upgrades - usually lockers or limited slips. Moab is no different from other good off-road areas, only the majority of the trail... is rock. Not necesarily rocks... but rock, as in big rock expanses covering the whole area. It is hard to describe, but I can guarantee that a trip out there will make you want to go back the next year... or month.

Last year we saw a lot of quads, ATV's dirt bikes, and mountain bikes... and a lot of Jeeps. The Jeep guys were very impressed to see full-size rigs out there, and we loved it. My wife and I rode with a good friend in his '05 CTD 2500 6-speed. He had a small lift and 35" Toyo tires that he runs every day. His rig was one of the more stable ones out there - weight was to his advantage. We all air'd down the tires - it definitely helps but isn't essential.
