Problem with pod injectors..

Hi, I am running a 2 tank system (svo and diesel) and ran out of diesel while running (poor tank sender) I spent much time cranking this evening to no avail, best to crack a few lines due to air? Sounds like gen ones are a bear to start when there is air in the line, is this true? Also wondering if fuse blocks often go bad on gen ones? Thanks!

ran out of fuel

get a fuel filter ,fill with clean fuel pump the lift pump , crack each injector

then fire her off make shure you see no air bubbles just fuel first

Fill the filter like DVolk said, then crack the lines 1/4 turn at the injectors. Crank til you see fuel spurt up and hit the hood (#6 may spray up on the windshield). Once the injector flows fuel, you can tighten it back down.

It should take no more than a minute to get the air out of the lines and fuel flowing.

Eureka!

My neighbor thought because I have an electrical pump that cracking the lines would be ineffective . . . he was wrong! Truck fired immediately upon bleeding. Does fuel filter priming pump typically leak on these trucks? I pumped mine and it seemed wetter than perhaps it should be . . I am guessing that these wear out often as they do not seem very robust, plastic, etc. Are slow leaks through the priming pump common?

It shouldnt leak at all from anywhere. Clean the whole area off real well and see where it is leaking from. If your weephole on the bottom of the pump is leaking, chances are you're getting fuel into the crankcase, too. Stock replacement is about $70; piston style (not 2nd Gen, but a 4B inline pumped application) is around $200 for everything. You could also have a return line leaking, or your cam cover gasket could be leaking oil down the block.

"OEM" was Carter 3 years ago. I have had decen tluck with the Airtex I have in my 92 for now. Pressure is a consistent 6. 5psi under normal empty driving conditions. I can make is suck down to 2psi under WOT in 5th at 30psi boost. Tells me my current fuelling is nearing the limit for my stock style lift pump.
