mine has a bad leak i have not found. i ran this dry for a while. i need to know if i can save this pump, is there any chance it is still ok? or do they burn up right away when run dry? if i do need to change it. where is a good place to get a new pump. two wheel drive 95 stock steering is fine with me. thanks

power steering pump

You probabley did, I had a problem with mine last year and when I had it replaced the analysis was tha it had been run dry causing it to fail. the symptoms were not responding to turns and spotty reactons like delayed responses. when I had mine replaced I used a reputiable shop but they made a mistake and did not remove the vacuum pump and by doing so the seal in the vac pump failed and the job had to done over. so when replacing the

P S pump remove the vac pump and replace together. most parts stores have good prices on rebuilds, also make sure that the surface that the seal rides on is not groved , if so the vac pump seal will fail. Depending on the miles it might be a good time to get a seal kit for the vac pump from cummings, not expensive. Stormy

... ... ... . from cummings... ... .

Who are they?? Oh, the company that Ford Owns, almost forgot:D

Seriously, I've run mine out without dire consequences. Fill it back up and see if it works.

Places that leak. The big O-ring where the reservoir and pump fit together, found in the re-con kit from O'Reilly. The hoses to the brake booster deteriorate and seep out the sides-dealer only.

Loose fittings and/or bad o-rings, particularly the pressure line out of the pump.
