Does anyone have a picture of the "dually" bumper on a truck. I am looking for a new rear bumper that wraps around for the fenders. Anyone else makes something simular?
Gotta few questions as a new rear bumper is on my shopping list.
(1) How far do those rear bumper wraparound sections extend forward from the tailgate towards the dually rear wheelarch flares?
(2) Does the "big hips rear profile" actually get any bigger? Any chance of posting a some side-on pictures to see a bit clearer?
(3) I already have a Reese Class V receiver fitted and note that your rear bumper has some sort of integral receiver tube. Is there a broadly similar rear bumper configuration that allows me to continue using my current Class V receiver?
I got the full wraparound, it's saved the back of my truck a few times, once from a side hit by a Tahoe. She hit me just past the drivers side dually fender. The receiver is built in, I would imagine that they could build something that would allow you to use the existing receiver.
Thanks, that was what I was looking for. I have a cap and carry a canoe up top. So that will help me reach the straps easier. I need to get the Nerf bars that also run to the rear fenders. looks good.
The system won't let me attach the pic because I've attached it to another post, but check my readers' rigs album. I've got South West Fabricators' Dually Wrap-Around bumper on an '03.
BTW, it's a 12 inch drop. They also make 10 and 8 inch drop, the latter of which should clear your existing receiver. Then again, they rate theirs (I recall) at 15,000 lbs trailer weight and 5,000 lbs hitch weight. Call them for details.
fbadmaev, look in my Reader's Rigs for pictures of my RanchHand front bumper, which is courtesy of jrankin (it used to be his). It's been cut and welded on a little to fit my winch in, but there's plenty of different angles.
You've done a little to your truck since the last time I saw you. Looks good. Glad that bumper worked out for you. I like the winch install. Take care.
Frank, it's not too hard. It's just a little awkward though. If you have an engine hoist or something similar it might be easier than how I did it.
With the bumper in the bed, I parked under a tree and rigged it up with a come-a-long and about 50 feet of rope trying to get it to pick it up level. Then I moved out from underneath it and tried to put it on the front. I could only get it in about half way, so I used the same tree to butt up against and push it on the rest of the way. It slides in the frame rails and uses existing holes and 6 bolts.
If you can get it installed for pretty cheap I probably go that way. I bought the first one and then exchanged it for one that Joe (jrankin) had. The style changed just a little and I liked the older ones a little better. I paid to have them swapped. $50 for pulling 2 bumpers off and reinstalling them. I hope this helps.
Joe, thanks for the compliment. Too bad my credit card is melted. I hope you still like my "old" bumper.
