Rancho 9000 settings

I recently picked up a set of Rancho 9000's on sale. I was looking at them today getting ready to install them in the next couple of days, and I had a question about setting them.



On the knob, I can see markings for all five settings. 1 and 5 appear to be at the same position. If I start and 1 and increase the setting, I can only get up to position 4. As I'm turning the knob, I only feel three stops (2,3,4).



Am I supposed to be able to rotate the dial all the way around to the original position? Or how do I get them set on 5?



I tried two of the shocks (one front, one rear) and they do the exact same thing. I didn't want to force the knob, since the last thing I need to do is snap one off.

I just did a search because I am having trouble adjusting mine when I found your post. All the way counterclockwise is 1, and one full turn clockwise is 5. It is a little stiff sometimes but you should be able to get the knob all the way clockwise to 5. I've had mine about 1. 5 years and I went to adjust them today and can't get one of them past 2. I want to set it on 3 but it stops and won't go to 3. The other front shock was very hard to get to 3 today. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Is there just a cap that I can pop off and then adjust with a screwdriver? They used to work o. k. but were always a little stiff to get all the way around.

Anyone else?? I checked out all four of them, two I can adjust all the way to 5 and two stop at 4.

I just got the Rancho 9000's also, and though I am not impressed with Rancho's quality control, at least my knobs turn to all 5 positions. I also got the in cab adjuster, so when I get the chance I will be removing the knobs to install the airlines anyway.

Yes very common problem. You can take the knob off the shock and clean out the shock and then the knob. Re grease with white litheam and re-enstall.

I had this same problem and went back to the dealer and he said if you don't turn the knobs from time to time the tend to seaze up. He gave me 4 new knobs and i cleaned the shock out and re-enstalled. That was 5 years ago and i haven't had a problem since turning regularly.
