Does anyone know if the Rancho Shocks called for on the 2002 are the same as th 2003?

I ordered some yesterday and got a return email that they are not available for the 03s yet.

Advanced Thanks,

Russ

Russ,

I called Rancho the other day and they said these shocks aren't available yet for our 03's. I received a different answer the next day via email from their tech support though. This guy says they are out and gave the following part #'s: RS99221 (fnt) and RS99269 (rear). Same place... two different answers. I think I'll call them back to see what the heck is going on

Karl:confused:

Karl,

Thanks for the info. I found out after I posted the question that the 03s can use the same part numbers as the 02 and before trucks. I think, if I remember correctly, these are the part numbers he sent you.

By the way, I installed the 2" front leveling kit today. It was a pain in the a$$. I had to use a set of coil spring compressors to get the springs compressed enough to go back in. Other than that part, it wasn't too bad. Took me about 3 hours though.

Nearly leveled the truck. The back is still a bit higher than the front, but I think it will be just right with the 5th hooked up.

WyoJim,

If you've ever tried Rancho RS9000s you wouldn't ask the question. The adjustability makes it so nice when towing heavy. You simply crank the shocks up and it takes all the trailer trying to wag the truck out and smoothes out the ride incredibly. When running empty, adjust the shocks down to level 1 or 2 and enjoy the smoooth ride!

I will say that the factory shocks on the 03 seem to be much better than the ones on the 99 were though.

Russ

Russ... read my signature on my first reply. I am running 9000 because my OEM started leaking oil.

But I have been pulling 5th wheels and hauling campers since 1969 and altho I can see a small improvement in sway hauling the camper, the expense is not justified. And I never saw a reason to go to them with a 5th wheel or a gooseneck.

I think you guys are in dreamland.

I put the 9000s on my Y2K about 140,000 miles ago. My only regret is I did not put them on when I first bought the truck. The stock shocks are a comprimise. They may ride good when loaded, but, they jar you when empty. When I get my new 04 it will have new shocks inside of month!!!

We need a pic of that leveled truck Russ!Oo.

Also, let us know if she squats in back when you hook up the fiver.

Dang, how am I gonna explain to the wife that I need "new" shocks for the "new" truck?

Rancho 9000X

Just got off the phone with a Tech from Rancho. The part numbers he gave me are: 99197 for stock height, 99221 for 2" lift on the front and 99269 for the rear... ... ...
