I have a 99 with a Rasp. I would like to move the stock (back up) lift pump to the frame back by the(Vulcan relocation kit) tank. Is this possible? Seems like a plumbing and wiring problem only. Or use a Walbro 392 as the backup to the RASP either on the frame or by the stock fuel filter. Anybody done this or know anybody with information please help me out . Thanks

The RASP system does not care where you are pumping fuel from on the electric side.

Unless you had an exsisting pump that was relocated, I would not take the time to do it and runt he RASP. Remember, you only need the electric to start the motor and for a backup. Most likely, it will never get used.

What Fishing Guide says is correct.

I put my lp on the frame before I bought my RASP. RASP doesn't care where it is. However if the RASP ever goes out and goes to the backup (lp) as the main fuel source, on the frame might give you a better emergency lp as it SHOULD push better from the frame.

I think I am going to test the backup system by taking the belt off (in the driveway) and see what the backup lp will or will not do? SHOULD be ok, but? hummmmm always happens at night, in the rain, in the middle of no where.

Well I have had the Rasp on for a couple of years now and have had 2 lp go bad. First one was a new pump and it had a severe leak after a short time in the backup position. Maybe from the new ULSD contracting the already expanded seals of the old lsd diesel. Cummins tech line said this had been a problem on some pumps. So I put on a new pump. Now a few months later (4 ? ) the second new pump has froze up somehow due to heat ? The RASP continues to run the truck but the backup lift pump will not run as in key bump to reprime the system or if I remove the belt to test it operatable as a backup. So I will need to change out this 2nd almost new pump also. I,m searching for a better way to have the backup lp in a easier to changeout position and /or make it a more reliable system. By having it on the frame it would definately be easier to change along the road and would get it away from the heat and vibration of the engine. Also it would make it a pusher pump. At 180. 00 each it gets expensive also. I just got back from a 2500 mile roadtrip in the Yukon and the backup lp was toasted early in the trip due to high heat due to oily radiator ( my fault) for not moving the crankcase vent sooner. It was a bit unnerving to not having the backup lp being in the middle of nowhere alot of the time although I had a spare lp with and tools but the RASP kept me in business. Spare belt and mechanical and dash mounted fuel pressure gauges also. I,m looking for a iimprovement to the system for reliability and ease of repair. Who could help me with a direction to go with this issue. Also please do a search on my other posts (RASP) if you are interested in this issue . Thanks for any help.
