I think the RASP is relatively new but... my guess is that VP failures as a result of RASP failure will be slim to none. With the stock lift pump as a backup and mechanical reliability, the RASP is about as safe as you could get. You need to remember that not all VP failures are lift pump related either. Heat kills electronics in VP's just as much as lack of fuel pressure.

There is nothing better IMO than a mechanical fuel pump look at all the big race guys and see what they use!!

there is nothing that will stop a VP44 from dieing but a great fuel system is a good start

about what I figured-

THat is what I'm afraid of, no matter how much money I throw at it, VP

is still gonna die. My first one is bad now, electrical. This all started about

the same time my radiator fins started getting clogged up with dust/oil,

but it never got over 200-210 - after running it that way for awhile, now

it will dead pedal on a cool morning 5-10 minutes after start up. Man, I

love this truck, and transmission, and motor except for the lp/vp -

tough decision whether to try and fix its bugs or trade. Guess I won't do

anything for awhile $$$ :(

i have 125,000 and still going strong on the org. VP44 changed 1 L/P.

its one of those things, it could last 200,000 or 5,000 no one knows,

all's we can do it help it out as much as possible,

keep clean filters in it, up grade the fuel lines add another pump and keep it cool as much as you can.

I just ordered the RASP. Took me a while to get up the nerve to cough up 900 clams, but it will be worth it in the long run, especially since eventually all the stock lift pumps are gonna be hard to come by. And I really like the more volume with more RPM feature, I cringe every time I gas it and the pressure goes down!!!

A couple of us are tinkering with ways to cool the VP to promote the life of the electronics.

So far the RASP or an equivalent is one KEY piece.

It puts more than 14 psi (VP bypass open point) to the VP and the bypass fuel helps cool some. The RASP provides all the fuel the VP can digest.

Some of us have put a fuel cooler on (1 guy on return line, 1 guy on VP feed line). Marco chimed in and also confirmed about the latent heat after shutdown problem of heat soaking. A couple of us are trying some after shutdown ideas for cooling.

Just some of the other things that kill VP's.
