Kind of "gee whiz" stuff - This came up regarding the CA license fees for a 1T truck.
In CA *anything* with a bed (with very few exceptions) is required to have commercial plates.
Commercial plates "tack on" additional fees for the commercial designation - in addition to the normal registration fee.
Smog guy claims the fee is based on the load capacity of the factory supplied 2" hitch (receiver) on the truck - rather than (or in addition to) the load capacity of the truck (bed).
Simply stated - if a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or 1T truck did *not* have a 2" receiver rated at 10K or above, the commercial portion of the license fee would be less.
Question: This is just out of curiosity - (no plans to remover or change it -IMO he's full of baloney, LOL!)
Anybody know what the factory 2" hitch (receiver) on a 2005 1T Dodge is rated?
~
On edit - my bad on calling it a 4" receiver. corrections made (to 2") - don't know how to change the thread title.
