Ive had a rattle/knock coming from, it sounds like, somwhere in the linkage from my gearshift to the transmission. If I push up on the gearshift towards the windshield, whether in D, neutral, or even with the engine off, the noise goes away. I could never figure out where the noise comes from.

Anyway, I found on the internet that if you apply a bunch of grease around the nylon nut and at the connection point from the shifter to the trans connection, the noise will go away. Has anyone tried this ? And did it work ?

Thx

Nope, turn the engine off and let it coast in neutral and the noise is still there. And when I push up on the gear shift (neutral or drive), noise goes away.

In case anyone else has this noise and is annoyed by it, I just tried it and it worked. I just wonder how long the fix will last. But if it comes back, I now know how to fix it.
