My accelerator pedal has a rattleing noise when the cruise is engaged and especially when under a pull such as going up hill,I tried rapping tape around the spring but it made it worse. Has any one else had this and what did you do to cure it.

My truck does the same thing. It took me a couple tries to identify the noise. I'd hear it, then take the cruise off to vary the RPM, and it went away. Now I just rest my foot on the pedal if the noise gets annoying.
No e-brake yet.

Mine does the same thing, and I have the overvalved model. I haven't experimented with curing it yet.

Ditto here on the rattling noise. Mine sounds more like a buzzing sound when in cruise mode and under load. I put some heat shrink tubing on the end of the Pacbrake fuel pedal switch where the pedal arm hits it hoping to cure it, but to no avail. Do you guys have e-brakes?Just curious. I believe this is where the noise is coming from because it didn't do it prior to me installing the e-brake.

Phil Staurt,
In my case the annoying rattle was caused by the factory throttle cable and related parts where they attach to the throttle pedal/lever. The rattle was present before I installed my Pac Brake.

I had this problem as well. After 3 trips to the dealer they finally replaced the pedal assembly. This reduced the rattle but it's still there. The noise is just the symptom not the cause. The guys at BD also had a go at the problem but couldn't identify the cause of the vibration. They assured me however that the engine was not going to die. Several months ago my throttle linkage rod snapped because of metal fatigue. I've accepted the fact that my engine moves more than others and is just a little noisier than most. If some has another idea, I'd be delighted to hear about it.

Hemi dart. I read your link but it's for a 24 valve truck, mine is the undervalved one. Looking at the accelerator pedal where the cable comes thru the pedal arm there is a retainer and a small spring and a rubber groumet for lack of a better term,it appears the spring in the retainer is where it iminates from the slightest's pressure on the pedal will stop it. I will experement with it some this week but any suggestions welcomed. Ramman

ramman,
I had the same problem on my 97'. Fixed it by putting a dab of silicone seal on the retainer portion where it seats against the gas pedal lever to glue it in place, let dry overnight. Hope this helps.

I have a 4" BD remote mount brake and I had a the rattle before the install but I beleive it is worse know as the throttle lever is resting against the switch at that point at which it rattles, maybe I'll try the silicone trick might just work.
