Rattle or pinging sound question

Just purchased a 2007 with the 5.9, it makes a light rattle almost pinging sound after about 1500rpm, does not do this with light throttle, the truck has 43,000 miles on it, I had a 2002 a few years back I don't remember it doing that. Is this common with this year of truck?

First off, this is normal sound with most of the common rail 5.9's. Second, on an '02, you wouldn't have been able to hear it for the loud main rattle that the 98.5 to '02 sounded like. I had an '01.5, 2500.
Some say it is the cam profile and timing.

I haven't noticed any pinging from current 06, the 99 I had before would ping when accelerated at mid range rpms under load with a Van Aiken box installed. bg
