Well, just finished up the conversion from RB4 to RB1 in my new truck. For those with the RB4 already, here's a couple tips/hints:
1. I had to CUT the RB4 antenna wire to get it out, it IS a different connector than the RB1. I suppose it is possible to get it out in one piece, but it would involve removing the whole dash, it's secured there pretty well.
2. Getting the RB1 antenna installed is easy, provided you drill a 1/2" hole toward the driver's side in the plastic underdash. I then used a coat hanger to fish the wire through to the radio, pretty easy.
3. This is out of order, but the front panel of the dash just pops off, in case you didn't know.
The rest is straight forward, plug all the connectors in, put the radio in with 4 screws and replace all the trim. I have to say, there is a pretty significant difference in the RB1 from the RB4.
If anyone has questions, PM me, but this is a simple install, 30 minutes including not having a clue how to do it...
