any comments about the quality of RDS(Northern Tool) fuel tanks?they are about half the cost of the other tanks advertised.

I am a Northern Tool dealer thru my RV dealership. I ordered 4 of the tanks you are talking about. All 4 came in scratched and damaged by Yellow Freight. I am still trying to settle with Northern and Yellow. The tanks themselves are good. I installed one of the 90 gallon units in my truck and love it. Here is where they get you hooked. The tank (90) was $469, then the shipping was $125 and then after you get the tank, you ask how does it hook up? Oh, you wanted to hook it up? We have the hook up kit for $249 plus shipping. Soooo, add all the numbers and go from there. Would I do it again? Probably not. We have several after market mfg. in our area that will install a similar unit for around $1100. Oh, I also paid $100 to have the hook up kit installed. So, the total is $943. For a few $ more and a lot less hassle, I could have had a unit installed a lot faster. Northern/RDS took a month to get the tanks to me. That's my story, yours may be differant. If memory serves me, RDS is in Perry, Fla. How far is that from you???????

PS: I have 1 of the 60 gallon units left if anyone in our area needs one. I am headed to Colo. next week and could meet someone along the way... .....

Well after 60 days of fighting with Northern Tool and Yellow Freight on my damaged fuel tanks, in today's mail I got my new adjusted invoice. For damaging all 4 boxes they generously allowed me $200. Their attitude is a take it or leave it. I have generously asked them to close my account and remove me from their mailing list... ... .....

Barry, could you tell me if the 60 gal. tank you have is the toolbox/tank combo or just the tank? In either event, does it come with an opening so one could mount a manual or 12 electric pump and hose. I don't want to tap my fuel line and I would sometimes use it for gas. I'm heading to New Mexico next week (6/29) along I-25 and could meet or work out some arrangement. Thanks in advance, Steve

It is the Tool/Tank Combo as listed in the Northern Tool catolog. Besides the filler neck, there are 3 other taps including the drain. There is not an opening that is big enough to screw in an electric or manual pump like what you would buy at the farm supply. It is DOT legal.

Thanks Barry, I really need one where I can mount a transfer pump. The local farm supply has the one I need so I guess I'll get it and the pump at the same time. Have a good trip to God's country ( except for Wyoming that is!).
