Readout of codes

I have a '99 that does not seem to do the off-onn dance. I have a Palm 505, which does not have an adapter for the quick check. That is according to the websites.



Any suggestions for getting a readout of any codes?

Get it on a scanner, your only alternative. My 99 is early enough that it will not display codes, as close as I can tell the 99 up to about 1/3rd of the way through the model year will not display codes. A PCM from a later truck might be all that is needed to change that but I am not sure.

98. 5 and '99 24 valves are the only 2nd gen trucks that don't do the ignition on/off trick, you have to have a scanner.

If you can't afford a scanner or Palm update right now, Autozone will scan the codes for you for free. Maybe that will help.
