Ready for some more Power!!!

HELLO FROM EAST TEXAS! I know this has been an ongoing thread for some time. I want to start bombing my little truck. What is the best way to start with??? Just a mild bomb for now. More power and mileage is what I am after. I do pull an equipment trailer some, and sometimes with 20K on it.

My vote is either a set of DD2 injectors for power,or an EZ if you want want to stay mild with better temps for towing. Don't expect much,if at all,on mileage gains.

Go for both, DD2's & Edge EZ. I have both, w/auto, tow a 10k 5er with no egt problems.

I live under the pines, and have never heard of Tatum.



Anyways, get a set of gauges first. That is the most importent thing to get. Then I would get an Edge Comp box. If you still want more, stage 2's. When you get up this high, your going to need to boost your drivetrain's power.



Before you do any of that get an exhaust job done. Rather it be stright 3" or 4" with a walker muffler, stright 4", you get the idea.

R. here's a good place to start reading about BOMBing: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9797&highlight=proper+order For what you want at the moment, an Edge EZ would probably fit the bill and will work well with other parts (fueling boxes, injectors, turbos) when (not if ) the BOMBing bug bites again.

EZ, then if you need more ,then consider injectors. But of course, get some gauges, too.

If you are looking for a "simple" add on,, definatly go for a plane jane Power Edge EZ. . http://www.edgeproductsinc.com/ This little box doesn't NEED gauges, will give you about ~. 5-2MPG increase and about 50HP



Although,, I do suggest you get gauges,,

for a High Output Cummins, and 6-speed transmission (ETH-DEE)

I suggest

Fuel pressure Gauge

Boost Pressure Gauge, and

Exhaust Temperature Gauge



If wanna make some serious usable Power,, you can go with the PE COMP Box (gauges required). If you don't like smoke, stay away from ~biggish injectors. Diesel Dynamics Stage 1 injectors are as big as *I* recommend,, but who am I? nobody really.



That stock clutch won't hold up to a PE COMP, AND injectors. A COMP it will hold,, and Injectors, it will hold, but probly not both. (Injectors will void warrenty) PE COMP will void warrentee IF Injection pump wire is pierced.



Feel free to make however much HP you want. . You can make 400RWHP, or just settle for an EZ, that will put 50 extra HP down.



Your HP levels depend on your wallet, or credit card size. and is not limited by the Strength of the Cummins.

How important is your warrenty to you? Thats what you need to decide. What future plans do you have in store power level wise. Once you start... its hard to stop (speaking from experience here).

with the ez stage 3 injectors and an hx40 you will be at around 360 horse and wont have egt problems but you will need a clutch to hold it

Call Fred.



Get an EZ and you'll have a hard time wiping the grin off of your face. The drive to work will go by way too fast. You'll be looking for more reasons to run to Home Depot and wander the aisles. Costco trips with the significant other won't come fast enough... just to get behind the wheel.





Just do it.
