Gallons per cubic foot????

Just added up the receipts from a 2000 miles RT to Fla and back. towing my Titanium that probably came just short of 11,000 lbs. Most of the time we were running 70mph. This run was down 95 which is pretty flat.

Most times the overhead showed 12, worse it showed was 11. 1, best was 13. 5. Pen and paper shows 9. 3. I guess I can blame some of this on winter blend, and some of it on ULSD fuel, and some of it on the EPA, but still, I am disapointed. my 02 dually Auto 4:10's pulled 11. 5 on the same trip, same time of year a couple years ago. My 06 is pulling around 200 rpm higher then my 02 was. Can't wait to see the results from those of you that drop the 3:42's in the rear.

Having you considered a cam swap or Smarty on lower levels? I've been thinking of doing either to improve my empty/towing mileage. My slightly mod 96' pulling the same load also had better mileage.

Makes me think. I need a pickup, but only a large one since I haul a large 5th wheel. I could get away with something like a ranger if I had a motorhome.

Now my Dad's Gulf Stream is as large as my camper, has a hugh V10 ford motor in it, and gets 8mpg all day long. If I add the payments of the truck and camper together, I could afford a newer motorhome, plus a small truck. And I think the small truck would do better then 18mpg for driving to work and back, plus I would not be afrade of where i park the small (used) truck. The way it is now, I have to leave home at 5:15 every morning just so I can get a parking spot at the train station that my Dodge will fit in! Just think, I could sleep an additional 1. 5 - 2 hour per day, still go camping and have a truck that is more affordable to drive to work.

AT any rate, I am stuck with this truck and camper for another 4 years at least. Can't wait to hear what the 3:42's do for those that are going to try them. Come to think of it, It's not really fair to say I am stuck with the truck and camper, I do love both of them. They both are the best I have ever had!

how many miles are on you 06, mine realy didn't start getting good milaige till about 25k. And ya the older trucks do get better mileage to begine with but don't pull aswell when you realy want to pull hard.

Its only 15K miles. I know it will still loosen up some, but the number of times I have towed (hard) with it, its well on its way to being "broken in".

TowPro,

Last aug. we pulled to Texas Hill country and back along I 10, My truck at the time had only 3400 miles on it. We avaraged a solid 10 mpg both ways.

My truck now has 9300 miles on it my mpg for city and hiway driving is going up I'm getting around 13. 6 on avarage (non towing). Will be taking out 5er in May will see what we get.

I think I might go for the smarty and run on the lower seeting and see what happens.

Do have a question for thoes in the know If I were to install a quadzilla for better mpg, would adding the smarty be overkill? Or should I Just run one or the other?

Thanks in advance
