A big thanks to Robert Patton for the heads up on the diminishing supply of higher quality CI-4 lube oil

(page 52, Issue#58, TDR). I stopped by several places and only found CJ-4. My John Deere dealer had plenty of CI-4 "Plus 50", and is unaware of the CJ-4 dilemna. At only $12. 84 per gallon, I bought enough for two changes. The "Plus 50" refers to their proprietary sales point: use this oil with John Deere filters and you can double your oil change interval. It occurs to me that they might have the wherewithall to guarantee a future source of CI-4 quality lube oil. Chevron produces their brand. THANK YOU.

They are likely to carry it for a while as the off road market has not been forced into the wounderfull world of particulate traps yet.

That's over $3. 20 a quart..... my local farm store has a large supply of Rotella C I 4+ in 5 gal buckets at $44. 00 each.

I just paid $48. 00 for 5 gal of CI 15-40 delo400. It is only avilable in quarts, 5gal and 55gal

I don't really care for the 5 gallon containers (***** to use) but it looks like the only way left to get C I 4... ... ... ... .

Congradulations. Buy all you can. According to the local Chevron distributer, they no longer produce the old formula in any container except for bulk transfer under the RPM label. You must supply your own tank and purchase a 55gal min.

The last Cenpeco oil I bought was less than that and delivered to my door and it is CI rated oil
