New 05 TDI...

Power divder/Air bag switch chime?

I don't know what the big deal is - - - - EVERY current production large truck is equipped with an inline 6 cylinder engine - - - Unless I missed something, there must be a reason for this!

i always tease my powerstroke buddies that why is it that our 5. 9liter engines are factory options for the larger f-series trucks.

The ford fans at work claim that the bigger trucks need a slower revving motor so thats why the Cat and Cummins is available.

it has been proven that a in-line motor will build more TQ than a v motor

thats why all the big rigs use in-line motors, big TQ numbers

I don't understand why the V8 fans question the Cummins. Are they just stupid or do they really not know that an inline is superior to the v motors? Or do they not want to admit that we have better engines. It seems like common sense to me.

Yes to all, people fail to educate themselves in all aspects of life these days

That, and they aren't as heavy ( read, more payload :D).

actually alot of people think that the larger diesel trucks have V8 diesels in them. They figure... big truck... must have a V8. And when i tell them almost every diesel truck has an inline six they tell me Im a liar. In fact just the other day a guy came into my work and was raggin on my truck saying, "why did you get the Cummins??? Its a nice truck, its just too bad those little inline 6's only produce like 500 ft lbs. " (He has a Duramax). I just kinda looked at him and said... "No it has 610 actually. " People just figure that a V8 configuration is where all the power is, and motors with their cylinders all in a line belong in a Civic.

I haven't gotten any of the "little 6 inline" BS yes. Funny tho how the cummin's is the smallest displacement motor making the most power :)

I do get the "how much HP does your truck have" question. I typicly say "My power add on upgrade, added more HP and twice as much torque then you civic makes right now" :) The look on their face when thier gears turn in there heads to compute what I just said is histarical. :)

At the local race areas around h ere, the diesels (mainly cummin's) trucks get alot of respect from all car people. Even the tools that haven't much of a clue.

the power stroke is a option on the larger f series fords. all the way up through the 80's,if a man wanted the maximum power in a class 8 truck, the v8 was the only way to get it right off the dealers lot. in medium duty power levels, what the 5. 9 cummins offers in hp and trq rateings, international offers [7. 3,6. 0] a exact or sometimes slightly higher trq rateing. in medium duty apps dateing back to the mid 90,s ,a person could buy a 5. 9 [12v] with a trq rateing as high as 605 ft,lbs. international offered 7. 3 [t444e] engines with as much as 650 ft,lbs of trq. the newer vrt365 [6. 0] offers trq levels up to 650ft,lbs in international applications also. another thing worth noteing is in both engines max trq is achieved at lower rpms, the 7. 3 peaks 650 lbs at 1500 rpms, the 12v cummins peaked 605 lbs at 1600 rpms. [medium duty rateings]. the 6. 0 in internationl trucks also has a lower rpm trq rateing as compared to its rateings in ford trucks... ...

what really cracks me up, when I pop the hood everyone says wow look at all the room. the real kicker is when banks had a display of the big three's engines. cummins dwarfs the other two.

What do you get - - - -

With a V8 diesel --- an old old OLD engine - - both cummins (555)and GM (6V71 and 6V92) had V diesels and they all returned to Inline 6's - - and it didn't work due to too many moving parts (about 33%) poor torque, too expensive to maintain. and they all returned to Inline 6's when power to weight ratio counted and cost and dependability were important.

I'm willing to bet that most Furd owners wished they had a Cummins instead of the Powerjoke. Duracrap aren't worth talking about.
