After reading posts on this and other sites about who's daddy can beat up who's, I decided to perform my very own unsientific test. I has assess to my Mother-in-Law's 1999 Dodge Turbo l Ton club cab 4X4 LWB 4:10 rearend with 14,873, and my 2002 2500HD Crew Cab SWB 4x4 with 2,752 miles. Both vehicles are bone stock.
Test conditions:
Temp:43F, Pavement, dry, Elevation 5,300 ft. Stopwatch: seiko.
Test l. Flat, level 0-60 Empty
Dodge 15. 70Sec. , Chev 13. 73 Sec.
Test 2 Approximately 6% grade with 21. 5 ft. Prowler 5th Wheel Time and speed between two points.
Dodge 54. 16 sec. Speed 60 MPH
Chev 52. 88 Sec. Speed 63 MPH
Test 3 Approximately 7% grade with 21. 5 ft. Prowler 5th Wheel Time and Speed between two points
Dodge 57. 61 Sec. Speed 57. 5 MPH
Chev 56. 49 Sec. Speed 60 MPH
I did not have a PSD available to test, but I'd bet there wouldn't have a lot of difference with it. If anyone has one available in the 4 corners area and would like to try this test, let me know.
I realize that this is not scientific, I'm not a good driver, etc. etc. but this is what I found. I posted this on the Ford page and whould have on the Dodge page, but it's just not important enough to spend the money. I'm Not seeing enough difference in the performance of these pickups for everyone to be making such a fuss. Mine sure wasn't the "Danny Dodge slayer" that it is made out to be, but it's equal in performance, and much quieter and more comfortable that the Dodge I used in this test.
