The Fuel We Use And What To Know About

This crossed my mind last night as I was putting on my new (3rd in less than a yr) track bar. How much grease should a person put into a new part such as the track bar ball joint? I've always heard the phrase "shot of grease" and thought it implied a single pump of the grease gun handle but who knows... .

While on the subject, how much should be put into each fitting when doing a routine grease of the entier truck?

Wow, that is basic. But I'm sure some folks need to know.

Two things. First, grease it till grease comes out through the seal, generally. Sometimes water and grease will be forced out. That's good. The bulk of the grease in many cases is just a barrier to water and dirt with only a small part of it lubing the joint.

Second. Use the right grease for the application. The cheap stuff is what you use on slow moving parts like some tractor/equipment stuff, steering linkages. The moly-fortified is what you use on "high speed" stuff like hubs and u-joints.

lube it. ;)

Hey, I told you it would be... .

That is what I've always done on existing joints, put enough in to get the water, etc out and enough to just start seeing it fromthe seal in a new joint.

It's just like when you get a song stuck in your head, I kept thinking about that saying "shot of grease" and started questioning my standard practice.

Thanks Wade.

It seems the thing to do is to use the dss bracket kit and install an 03 trackbar. Bushed at both ends, no ball socket to wear out.
