My dad gave me his old dodge ram 3500, this thing is a beast with the cummins in it, but i found a 8 foot single axle bed, and im wanting to make it a srw instead of the drw it already is. Ive been reading the old talks on here and kinda have an idea, that all i would have to do is take the spacer out of the front axle and i would be fine to just put singles on the back, and just change out a few of the hubs because the gear ratio on it is a 3.73, and I am just really wanting help to know for sure.

I did the SRW to DRW conversion. The DRW axle is about 3" wider overall so the rear tires will ride outside the front track by 1.5 inches (or so). The front axle hub extensions can be unbolted (same from axle between DRW and SRW). SRW rims will bolt right up.

No reason to change the gear ratio because of changing to SRW.

So what your telling me is if I take out the front spacer then the rear track width will be 3" further out? Is there anything I can do to fix that?

About 3" total so yes.....1.5 per side.

Replace whole axle with srw one and sell your drw axle.

Or rebuild your srw axle. Need shorter axle shafts and remove spacer behind brake disc. Everything else is the same (brakes, axle tube, gears , etc)

Or just drive it as is with wider rear axle. doesnt look that bad.
