Man, back when I joined in 2003 this was "the" area to be.

The 1st gen forum was host teeming with life, ideas, and people and the 3rd gen forum was just a few threads mostly askin in the CP3 was going to break like a VP44!

Threads, man you could barelly read all of each days new posts in here!

Where did everyone go? Is everyone alive out there?

Someone needs to break something and post about it! :-laf

:D

Hang in there I am looking for an older First gen. I am tired of resting my arm on plastic, I miss looking at the door and seeing where my arm has rubbed off the paint.

Like all of us old geezers, they are fading away. Everything has it's time, but it is a shame. To my way of thinking 1st Gen is still the best. Afterall, that's where this all started.

I should have some pics of my 84 up soon . Does any one have any crossmembers sitting around they want to part with ?

Bring on the restorers

Howdy Bob,

I'm still here. Contemplating what to fix next. Mechanically, I think it's about done. Next is rust. It's (unbelievably) just starting to show over the rear wheels. This truck was heavily Ziebarted by it's original owner and man, I could just hug him for that!

As for a slowdown in posts. I can explain that. I came here in 2006 as the new owner of a rescued truck that was slated to be parted. I knew NOTHING about these Cummins powered icons. My intention was to end up with a reliable truck and then to persue restoring it. I have a hunch the purpose is changing. The past wave of posts in previous years was mainly about bombing and repairing the things that broke with everyday use. As these trucks tick by the coming 25 year mark, you will see more and more new owner-restorers show up. Brace yourselves guys. It's up to us to lead that charge and help all we can. I sure thank all of you for educating me! And I would love to meet mysteryman some day. Terry gave me some awesome behind-the-scenes info. :D

I figure the resto posts will be good for about another 15 to 20 years if this is like my 66 Charger Group I'm in. That group is dying off because the cars are pretty much all restored. Once in awhile you get a guy who bought a stock-resto car and wants to add performance mods.

Hang in there guys, I know I aint goin anywhere soon. (especially if I find a Scout to Cummins-ize) :-laf

They are the best ones and that's why!! :D

My current W-350 is 20 years old this month and I have been leaving the '09 parked because it lacks the character of the only real truck I've owned in my life (except for my '93 D-250 RIP :{).

And I would love to meet mysteryman some day.

Same here!! I was desperate and broke at the time and after lurking here on a friends account for a while and reading a few posts, I finally had enough courage to open it up and rebuild it the right way...

I now have almost 200k (6 years) on the rebuild at around half the cost of a trans shop. Including the purchasing of a few specialty tools to get it right. ;)

Welllll, it's simple really. I haven't broke much lately that I'm gonna tell ANYONE about... ... It's that bad. Even if I posted pics, you'd ask,"HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT!?!?!?" so, rather than lie, I just don't post pics... . :D (that and my new phone sucketh, so I can't get good pics, and I don't ever have a good camera when I need one..... ) Kinda like the Armour Piercing incident last month... .

I don't know... . look on Moparts forum. Muscle cars are going strong! :)

The first gens are now the muscle cars of the Dodge Ram world.

Still alive and kicking. You know the cool thing about us seniors - we can hide our own Easter eggs!:confused:

:-laf Nice!

Bob

it is a Campbell's soup can by nowthough.

Yes, fully agreed I would like to meet Terry as well. Has been a great source of info over the years! Speaking of that he has been quiet too.....

And fully agreed. Yes, I have already seen the restoration trend start int he last 2-3 years. I was at the start of the trend. The crappy part when dealers don't have the parts and repro does not make them! I am pulling the doors on the crew apart again s regulators are now available and they were not when I put the doors together a few years ago. This is a good thing. Need more of these trucks on the road!

Yes. I have spent a fair amount of time behind the wheel of the mega but there is a reason my 1990 is my daily. :)

LOL I wanna hear this. Actually no, I wanna see this. :D

And don't give me any excuses about your phone sucking like a hoover.....

And I want the details on that too!

Bob

But then we forget where we hid them! :{

I'm around, but am lacking time. 2 small kids, too many things to fix, firewood to cut, it all takes time away from the good stuff.

I just got the '92 out after some small wiring upgrades. The fact the wifes car ate the waterpump sped up the process.

Who's the retard that decided running the WP off the timing belt was a good idea?

What were we talking about?!?! Oh, yeah!! Hiding small children, chopping good stuff, and setting fire to things..... like Audi's..... do you smell gas? :-laf How good's your insurance?!?!?

Water pump off timing belt??!? That sounds like a Goverment Motors project, to me!! WAAAA HOOOO, job security, right there... that I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER ain't funny, I don't care who you are!! :{

BSchwarzli, I didn't get time to look on my camera, I got some pics... . The boy that works for me got some, too, so maybe he has some on his phone.....

Always here...

I haul weekly about 425-pounds. I keep my rig maintained. When I find problems, get on TDR, folks chime in, I get 'er done. My paints getting tired since I had to leave the truck out the garage the past 5-years, (restored VW Bug goes inside). Good, reliable rig, average 21. 25mpg at this time ;)

TDR the best membership:D Patrick

You know, I've even met a couple of lunatics I really like here, too. We think a lot alike... ... except for that one lunatic wearing cannibus shorts in public..... something odd about that one.....

I'm envious of those of you who live in an area where the vehicles don't rust away before your eyes.
