Good afternoon TDR team, sorry for re posting if this is already clearly answered somewhere...

I have a 2006 3500 DRW auto mega cab 4x4 with a bad rear drive line.
I would like to replace it with a one piece. I have looked and looked but I am still not sure of the replacement part #s.
I hoping to get a mopar one piece if there is such thing.

what I have come up is a 52123220AB but some forms say this is for a manual and other say it is for a auto but only 2007s?

thoughts?

You'll have to go to a drive line shop and have one made. Being a Mega Cab, it should be the same as a Quad Cab 8' ft bed drive line. BTW, you posted this in the Chassis & Cab forum, you'll get a better response in the 3rd gen no engine or transmission forum.

My advice would be to hit a local drive-shaft shop. I had a 2004 that I had a local shop do a new steel shaft for $200 and change using the yokes from my 2 piece shafts. Drove it over 100k miles with the one piece shaft pulling some very heavy loads with no issues. Also, added joints that had grease fittings. OEM joints had no way to grease them so they prematurely wore out.

I've seen a number of threads about using a stock AL shaft from Dodge, but you'll have to do some digging to find the EXACT one that matches your frame and trans setup (obviously). Probably spend way more than having a local shop fab you one though. Steel works just as good, IMO.

Or you go to the dealer and order 52123161ac . I know a few people who have this in the 06 48RE 4x4 Mega, the dealer could verify with your vin too.

52123161AA 1 8 42, 81 DG8 Has Yoke With Damper
52123161AB 1 8 42, 81 DG8 Has Yoke Without Damper

These are the correct numbers for the 48RE. They will superced to the new numbers if they have changed. 52123220AB is a 69RFE shaft, might work also if the lengths are close.

The popular one is the shaft without damper because the damper was causing the issues when it wore out. However, without a viscous damper on the front the OE DS's will still pick up harmonics when things are just right. The 4" to 5" then back to 4" cause problems in some applications. The other option is a custom 5" aluminum DS and get rid of the flange drive which is the source of most problems.
