Can someone tell me the proper Ohm value for my rear ABS sensor. (the one in the differential) I have rear wheel ABS only.

The truck is a 99 4x4 5speed.

The new one that I just happen to have on my work bench has about 1500 ohms across the two pins. It is for a 97 3500, but is probably the same.

I finally got around to finding the spec in my CD-rom manual. It states the the rear wheel sensor should have between 1600 and 2300 Ohms. I crawled under the back and found 1400 ohms. I guess I need to find a new sensor.

Be sure to check out the wiring harness leading toe the sensor first. Look for corrosion and loose pins in the connectors. There's a connector at the sensor and one up along the frame just behind the fuel tank. This is the usual cause and only $27 for the short pigtail compared to $67 for the sensor.

I will look at the harness connection. But, my speedometer is still working fine. The 98. 5 and newer use this sensor for the spedo and rear abs. So I must be getting some signal from the sensor or my spedo would be off. I will keep trying. I tried to scan the abs computer, but the Snap_on scan tool does not communicate with the Kelsey-Hayes rear ABS module. This is what I was told by the Snap-On tech line. So I will have to try and diagnose, without codes.

It's a 5 minute job to change it. Anyone you know have a Ram and will let you borrow their sensor for a few miles?

My ABS and Brake dash lights have been on for a couple of months now.

I metered the rear wheel sensor at 1. 7k Ohms today.

Any suggestions on what to check next?
