I am changing the seals on my rear axle and the book says 120-140 ft# for the big nut on the axle to hold the hub, I did and it seems awfully tight. i know they weren't that tight when I took them off, does this sound right?
That sounds about right. I did the Quad 4x4 double spindle nuts the other day on my 2000 rear axle. I was replacing seals, bearings, GM cylinders and brakes. Anyway, I torqued to 130 ft lbs and backed it off 1/8 turn. Dan at quad says he backs off up to 1/4 turn.
