I'm pulling my overloads and I was thinking of adding that 1" block between the main pack and the overloads to under the main back for an extra 1" lift, and also I won't need to get shorter ubolts.

Now I've been told stacking blocks is not a good idea, but I was thinking I could just weld the 2 blocks together, basically making 1 block.

Now does anyone know if the blocks are cast steel or cast iron?

I have seen this satcking be for, Never really thought it was a problem?

You might have seen a "zero rate" AAL... they bolt to the springs with the centering bolt... stacking two "loose" blocks is never good...

I believe they are cast iron... but I doubt you would have any issues welding them (and worrying about the weld breaking) since they "really" don't have any load on them...

pretty sure they are cast iron. stacking is never a good idea for loose blocks.

welding them together should make it safer. the problem with stacking blocks is if a u-bolt becomes loose and a block can shift out from under the axle.

never seen it happpen but it cant be good.

I've seen tall stacked blocks spit out with tight ubolts... the axle literally twisted the bolts and housing to the point things came apart... that was a guy rock crawling which is pretty extreme, but as much power as some of these diesel guys run... not extreme by much...

Yeah the zero rates are an option, but they are about $40, where if I can use my stock blocks, it would be free.

I may just go that route since it will be safer.

Make the job easier

Wire brush the threads very good on the u-bolts before you loosen the nuts, otherwise they will probably gauld and be tough to remove.
