The rear center brake hose broke from corrosion at the upper hose fitting. It appears the outer metal crimped part got so corroded that it let the hose blow off. The threaded brake line connection of the fitting was quite corroded and would have failed soon. You have to use a mirror or crawl up over the axle to see the top of the fitting. Luckily the hard line nut was salvageable, but it probably won't be next time. In order to replace the center hose, the three hard line connections had to be heated to allow the nuts to turn without twisting the lines. This melted the protective cover over the hard line. I assume the nut and line will just rust together so removing the nuts in the future without twisting the hard will be impossible.
Anyhow, remember to check this fitting during your underbody inspections.
