Fixed my rear brakes after taking them apart three times!!
Before repair Symptoms:
Had no rear brakes. Blowed rear cylinder.
After repair Symptoms(replaced shoes and cylinders):
Driver side would lock up with very little effort even after multiple adjustments(loosening). Driver side rear would always adjust itself back too tight.
Passenger side would barely grab. But would provide some braking.
Carried truck to dealer to have reflash of PCM done due to service bulletin (TCC lock/unlock) so I had them look at the brakes, I was past aggrevated with them. They advised was out of adjustment. They adjusted them and said they are fine now. After they charged me $80 bucks, they still did not work right!
I took the brakes apart again for the third time and found the driver side shoe had split in half. Just the pad not the metal backing. I went and got a new set (warranty) and then noticed that they are of different thicknesses.
Two shoes are shorter and thinner than the other two.
Bingo!! The light goes off!!!
I had put both thick long shoes on the drivers side rear and both thin short shoes on the passenger side rear. Do Not Do This!!
Remember!!!! : Thin short shoe in front, Thick long shoe in back!!
All is well now, boy do I feel stupid. But I feel much better after chewing some incompetent dealer butt!!! I would have thought they would have caught this, apparently not!
