I have a 1996 2500 with 2. 5 inch rear brake shoes. Can I change them to the 3. 5 inch shoes used on the 3500? What all would have to be changed? I want to stay with a single rear wheel axle.

Dave

The change to the larger shoes depends on the drums. . You can do the 3500 wheel cylinders(direct replacement). I have done mine and it works great.

I changed the rear cylinder but would like to go to the larger brakes. I would like to know if the larger shoes and larger drums are a bolt on replacement.

I would really like to know this as well.

The 1999 has the same size cylenders already (2500 vs 3500) AFAICT they have the same drum size?

I have almost gone and bought the 3500 pads and just tried them... If they did not fit I could claim stupid and return them.
