I got rearended last night and it smashed my bumper. I'm sure her insurance will cover it since it was here fault. Anyway, may be interested in some alternative aftermarket bumper, either to save some money and pocket a little cash, or to improve the look. Any suggestions??

I got rear ended Tuesday afternoon. Kid in a Caravan thought his brakes worked better than they did. I have a Buckstop rear bumper. If you look REAL close you can see a small scratch on it now. His hood was buckled in half.

I told him he was very lucky to hit me and not anyone else in town as he would be buying a new rear bumper for them at least.

I think the website is www.buckstop.biz.

Buckstop

92 Honda Accord rolled into me at a stop. Not a scratch on my bumper, but her hood sheet metal was gashed and crumpled. Big repair bill.

I love my Reunel rear bumper, granted I leave my hitch in it, I've been rear ended four times in less than a year. Must be California.

I got taged in the rear. Doing the research, I found that the stock Reunel was actually $50 cheaper than the paper thin OEM. (At least that was the way it started :) ), after adding winch, rings and lights it was about 2x. ;) Bomb on!

Seriously, the OEM is about 18 gauge. Reunel is 1/4" plate with 1/2" hangers. I had a 30' flat bed tag it and it left a lot of his paint. My damage was a 1" crack end cap and he broke my Horton step. The only downside is that the Reunel is so stiff that if you take a big hit more energy will get translated to you because it will absorb less. I would put another one on in a heartbeat.

Just another alternative, you could take the insurance money and build one, or have one built. I did that when an MR2 decided to run up underneath my truck. Check my gallery...

1/4" tube 8"x3" held on by the trailer hitch bolts and bolts through the vertical sides of the frame. Sucker weighs about 90 lbs and is STOUT. The only thing I wish I had done different is gone with 8"x4" tube to make it more proportional with the truck.
