I would like to mount a rear camera on my 37' fifth wheel trailer. Is there anyway to tie in to the existing camera to have the trailer camera show on the in-dash media center? Is it possible to cut the camera wire and put a plug in the line so I can unplug the tailgate camera and plug in the trailer camera?

Thanks

i do not think you will like the pix size i went a different route i got a good security camera with infrared lighting and a high resolution monitor and wireless transmitter between the two. i set the size the same as looking in the mirror and reversed the image the same as you see in the mirror

Ditto the MyGig Lockpick. I like the bigger monitor, but I don't want to have that much stuff on my dash. The Lockpick allows you to manually turn any of the 4 cameras on at any time, including the factory rear view.

Wow and do you have room for a passenger? I thought I was looking at a portable ITT room. :-laf:-laf:-laf

I'm in the middle of installing a Lockpick on my nav system, but the first one was defective and I am installing my iPhone and adding a rear camera. I like my add ons as clean as possible, I'll post some pics. mcandies, try to find the plug that is on the rear camera side of the harness and make an extension with your new camera spliced in. When your not using your RV just plug back in the OEM camera. Remember to increase the gage of wire used due to length of extension. If you research it, you could install a 12VDC relay that could switch on demand, and install the switch in your dash to give it a OEM look.

Located the wires but there are 1 black, 1 red, 2 or 3 greens, and 1 orange. I figure the red and black are power and ground but have no clue how to connect the trailer cam. It only has power and 1 RCA cable for video. Guess I will just connect it to my Dezl 560 GPS. Will do a little shopping for local installer that installs the lockpic.

Thanks

I have no idea what colors are what and recommend you know for sure before splicing in. As I posted before, find the "camera side" plug and buy just the plug and pins and make your adapter or pig tail. That way you just plug and play, you won't need to use the OEM cam if your RV is connected. The Lockpick is plug and play so I won't have to splice into any wires, and besides I didn't order the truck with a rear camara.

Lets bring this back up. Anyone have any luck getting a camera from the dealer and extending the wire to work with rear back up camera. Not interested in lock pick. Just using the existing plug for the tailgate camera

Is there a wireless that you can work with?

Magellen has a new camera the works with a few of the GPS units.

I'm not suggesting to use the Lockpick, but in my case if I want a rear camera that is the option I chose. What I'm recommending is to buy a compatible camera and make a pigtail with a camera side plug, that way you unplug the factory camera and plug in your rear camera. You won't be able to see from the factory camera anyway with a trailer or 5ver connected. So when you hitch up your TT or 5ver, you unplug the factory cam and plug in the trailer cam.
