Archived Rear diff fluid color.... help!

What color is rear diff fluid supposed to be on a 2004. 5 with only 2200 miles on the clock???? Just had mine checked to rule out a rear end whine and it was full, but graphite gray in color with some metal sticking to the magnet on the plug already. . please advise quickly

The fluid in my 03 was grey. There have been many reports of metal on the magnet in rigs with LSD's. I've got an open diff and had no metal.

Thanks... sounds like Gray might be a normal color then???? I do believe I have the LSD diff.

Early wear of gears and LSD units frequenly cause early lube contamination - I always like to drain and refill after pretty low miles to get that crud outta there...
