There are several threads about changing the differential oil.

They cover getting the old cover off, how to drain old oil, what to use and how to insure a perfect surface for the Mag-Hytec seal ring, checking clearance of the sway bar, checking clearance of the spare tire, the torque values, how to get the new oil in, to add modifiers or not and how to tell, how to recheck that all went well.

Don't forget to tip each axle. I did not know to do that when I did mine.

If you haven't installed your diff cover yet I would suggest taking the drain plug out and coating the threads with some anti sieze, put a light coat of oil on the o-ring and then re-install the plug.

This will save you ALOT of grief when it comes time to change your fluids.

Voice of experience here... . that freakin plug is still in my DD trans pan:mad: I tried everything short of dynamite to getit off and it would not budge.

The Mag Hytec covers are great, but make sure to use the torque specs on the plugs. I have also found it useful to have the fluid, warm/toasty warm when removing the plugs.
