A pair of U-Joints should share the same angle. The shafts should be parallel or a "broken back" installation should be used.

Having said that, there are those that point the pinion toward the transmission output. I don't see how it works satisfactorily but I guess for those that have done it it works.

I will be interested what others say regarding this topic. .

i have a transfer case indexing ring for the front and also changed front pinion angle with the trailing arms, but i recently broke the rivets in the rear diff housing and since i had to spin it back into place i thought i would change the pinion angle, i have a 6 inch lift on the rear, the tubes will be in the stock location, just moving the center section a little.

In a perfect world... ... . If the pinion is turned up straight in line with the driveshaft (when under load) the opposite end should have a double cardan joint to make vibration free rotation.

my axle doesnt change under load, my pulling bars keep them still, that is why the center section turned on the tubes, not expieriencing any vibration, just wondering if it is a good idea to change rear pinion angle before i truss the rear end, i have never messed with rear pinion angles on a lifted truck, also while sled pulling the rear suspension is solid with a 26 inch hitch height:)

For vibration free and best operation, u-joints need to run with a minimum angle of . 5* to a maximum of 3*. A constant velocity joint used on the transfer case end helps obtain these angles.

i got everything welded up today, moved pinion up about an eighth of an inch, pinion angle looks good, and the truck drives great, no vibrations at all...
