Just completed converting to rear disc brakes. What a difference! Job took 8 hours from start to finish. Parts fit extremely well. I used EGR Severe Service Brakes including the Kevlar Braided S/S Brake Lines.



Glenn Maurer has put together a very good kit and knows the value of service!



My parts cost from Glenn, including a new Master Cylinder, was less than the parts cost to rebuild the original system.



Although I normally do not endorse a company or product, this worked so well that for anyone considering this modification - check it out.

I just replaced the master cylinder. Is there any reason I'd have to do it again to convert to discs?



Thanks for the note. With a non-lockup torque converter preventing me from using an e-brake, this may be what I was looking for to help stop the beast.

As part of this project the Master Cylinder was also replaced with an identical new one - so no replacing the master cylinder because of this conversion is not necessary. The volume of brake fluid displaced during braking by the disc brake calipers seems to be less than the amount of brake fluid displaced by the drum brakes druing their operation.



One note of caution - due to the number of miles, all of the hard steel brake line for the rear axle was replaced. This makes the job a little more time consuming.
 
:{ Dang, won't fit on my dually. Of course with a set of Rickson 19. 5's... ... ..... $$$$$$$$$$ :confused: Let's see: divorce or Rickson's... ..... divorce or Rickson's... ... ... . Maybe in a year or two when the most recent outlays for truck have lost their shock value.
