Has anyone done a rear disc brake conversion on a first gen yet?

I found out this weekend that my beast needs some major rear brake work(everything but backing plates). I've been thinking about this conversion for a while, so I figure I might as well do the conversion now instead of spending the money on the drum brakes.

I'm considering using the calipers, rotors and adapters from the front of a first gen 4wd and machining a spacer/adapter to bolt the caliper adaptor in place of the current backing plates. The e-brake on my truck was disabled by the previous owner and being an automatic I don't feel I really need it. I also figure that the current proportioning valve will need to be replaced with an adjustable unit from Summit, etc. .

Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked into the conversions by TJM and the like. When my truck needs rear brakes I will be swapping to discs in the rear. I did a search last year when I bought the truck for rear disc brakes and found a few companies that offer kits, but I dont remember who they are. Keep me posted though, at 130,000 miles in can only be a matter of time before I need them.
