Looking at doing the rear disc change over this spring on my 1993 4x4. I've see here that with the 93's that they have anti-lock brakes that they do not require a new proportioning valve. Now my question is that when the truck is put into 4wd that the anti-lock will not work. What happens to the proportioning at that time. Does anybody have any experience with this. Could this be a problem?

Thanks

Dan

When in four wheel drive there is no de-coupling between front and rear. If the rear brakes are applied too heavily, then the "excess" power is transfered to the front wheels. Proportioning would only change how much of the work was done by which brakes. Does relying on the ABS to proportion the rear brakes have an effect on the longevity of the ABS pump or anything???

Good luck and keep those wheels turning,

Dan

Could you end up with the back wheels wanting to lockup like in the snow? Power is going to one front wheel as no locker in the front. Am I worried about nothing? Anybody have any experience with this that has done the conversion?

Dshockley heading out your way to archery hunt around your town in 2 months. Really looking forward to that. Then heading to Kansas to hunt from there. Some nice deer in your area.

On very slick surfaces, It would be possible that you would lock up one back tire prematurely, but I think that you should be ome concerned about the ABS pump.

Good hunting, yes. I am new to Illinois, so I haven't found a really good place to hunt, yet. Maybe I will have some time to look next year.

I disconnected my ABS and tried it, it will lock up in 2wd if you want it to but it required a heavy foot ( my truck with the camper #10,500)

but i 4wd in the yard i could not get it to lock up, but i did almost throw myself thru the windsheild ... ... ... RIck
