My nephew whom I keep trying to get him to join tdr, has an 03 2500 with about 100,000 miles on it. He replaced the ujoints in it about a week ago and has since ended up with a howling noise when pulling a loaded trailer and hitting a bump under load. When he lets off on the throttle the noise goes away. It does not make the noise when just driving the truck and no load. My thought was he got a bad ujoint since the noise did not appear until he replaced the joints. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks,Brett

Ya my 04. 5 has a howl I carry a load all the time . Took it to the the ******* and they couldn't hear it go figure. It's definetly the rear end propeller shaft check the TSB's for it

Mine has a howl when I let off the loud pedal when it is cold going down a hill. I changed fluid from Mopar 75w-90 to Redline 80w-140 and no more noise. Go figure.

I just had a rear diff failure and I was using Redline. I can' be sure but I am very suspicious of the oil. After a $2500. 00 repair I am using the Mopar oil. The extra cost for oil doesn't go very far towards repairs.

Hopefully he didn't go and tighten the rear pinion flange nut. Did the drive shaft get put out of phase? is it a 2 piece? Grease able joints?

I always mark the main pieces and put them back the same way.
