Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Rear End info

I've got an '01 2500, H. O. , w/ 6 speed manual transmission, and I'm tired of spinning one wheel, in a snow drift! I might as well have a 2x4. I've read alot of different postings on this subject, and have leaned a bit about this problem, but I can't seem to find much info about my rear end. When I looked at the diff. cover, stamped on the cover is: DANA 42434 272 0 REV AB 05 02 94. on the tag on the side of the housing: 5206947AG 3. 54 606272-1. I assume it's a Dana 80. But I'm uneducated as far as this part of my rig is concerned. I'd like to know more about these lockers. There seems to be alot of guys out there with intimate knowledge, I'd appreciate the info.
