Hi Ya'll-

I've read in a few posts that "the only thing different (heavier-duty) about 3500's is that they have overload springs"...

Well, I was at the dealership looking under 'em, and the 3500's (SRW) have a noticeably larger rear pumpkin and axle tubes than the 2500's. I think, but may be mistaken, that the 3500's use an 11 1/2" ring gear vs. 10 1/2" for the 2500's? I was looking at a 6-spd 3500 and I forgot to see what transmission the 2500 had.

If this has already been covered, sorry I missed it.

Alright, I'll bite.

It was my understanding that the auto's had the Dana 70 and the sticks had the Dana 80. I'm pretty sure of this, but that really doesn't mean much if I'm wrong.

Dodge Rams no longer use the Dana axles as of the 03 model year. The 2500 manual and auto gas and diesel autos use the 10. 5 inch gear while the 2500 diesel manuals and all 3500s get the 11. 5 inch. Have a great evening.
