I just got scammed on a 1995 twelve valve. The guy was not honest about the vehicle and come to find out one of the major problems is the 4. 10 rear end seal is leaking badly, not only that but the differential mechanism also seems to not work. If I turn sharp the drivers side rear tire skids and shutters. Can I fix this or do I need a new rear end.

sounds like a bad oil leak, and he has just been adding oil... the skidding could be the limited slip rear acting up as he has just straight oil in the rear now and no limited slip additive, that unit requires a special additive to work right without it they will get real rachity and act nasty... ... you need a honest rear end guy to take a look at it for you, may be a $20 seal some labor to install and new oil and down the road you go..... or it could be about to let go inside, park it till you get help.

I would pull the cover and have a looksee. If no visible gear damage or shavings, I would replace the seal and go with the limited slip additive. When you get it back together run the truck in tight circles, both directions, several times. Good for the clutches.

thanks I will try that, If orgot about the addivitve until after i posted. It was my fault, Truck looked ok but was described as a cream puff elderly gentleman, turns out it was not. Live and learn.
