I have a choice of oil to use in my DANA 80. I can either leave the Redline 75W90 syntheic in it, or change over to Lubrication Eng. 607 Almasol.

Which would be better? Or is better based on your experince with these oils?

Also, They sent me "Torco type F" limited slip for my dana 80. Its clearly marked ford. Any difference?

I'm not using the Mag Hy Tech cover, but stock for now.

Thanks in advance for your help.

MGM, trying not to start a oil war, I put " rear end oil" and "rear end axle oil" and "rear axle oil" in the search engine and got 1 or 2 post, but none answering the question.

Lots of post on engine oil etc etc etc. I'll try just plain "oil" and see what come up. It will probably crash the search engine!

Oooops. I retried my search a different way and got mucho post..... decision made. . #ad

Bug Out,
I work for LE and have for many years. I can answer your questions about LE gear oil 607. Yes the LE gear oil is better and will be great for your truck. I will answer more of your questions on an e-amil if you send them to me. This would avoid more oil wars for now. Kdinwiddie@socal. rr.com

Sincerely, Kevin

Bug Out,
Now I see why you asked! Using the right search words sometimes is a pain. But when you hit the right one, wow! " Mucho" is an understatement!
What was your choice? I promise we won't flame you!

Kevin,
You sound like a politician. LE is better than what? Cooking oil? Be more specific please.

This is always a good link on this topic. http://www.amsoil.com/faq3.htm

Ram on!

I've been flamed before. . I decided to put the LE 607 in and see if the R-End gets as hot as it did before. .

I could not touch it after driving for 60 miles on flat ground, or not keep my hand on it for 3 seconds. . I thought that was a bit hot for running empty...

Now, I'll see how the LE 607 feels after some miles. . The 607 is strange looking. . Red color and sticky like maple syrup...

Time will tell. . I wanted to put the Mag cover on, but could not push myself to spend $250 on it.

Good luck!

I am curious on how you could come up with that conclusion after reading 50 posts on this topic.

But, some people are still voting for Al Gore!

You will not have any problems with LE 607.

Just keep it above 30-40 degrees. Beneath that, straight 90ws tend to thicken up a little. And the amount of extreme pressure additive it needs to keep those good wear scar test results up, need heat to activate them.

But it should be fine, most of the time!

I had bad experience using Redline in the rear diff in my last truck (Toyota). Significant spider/side gear wear after only 100k. I use LE 607 in the diffs on my new Ram.
