Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Rear end question

My neighbor recently bought a 1995 CTD and can't find out what rear end it has. It is a RAM 4500 with auto trans. Anyone one know an easy way to tell.

Sorry I should have read my thread. It is a RAM 3500 but you all knew that anyway. The 4500 is just in my dreams.

It is probably a Dana 80 (4" axle tubes) and to tell what gears he has there should be a metal tag under one of the cover bolts that will give the gear ratio (4. 10 or 3. 54). If there is no tag then a person can pull the cover and see what is stamped on the ring gear or just jack it up and count how many drive line revolutions to one tire rotation. Hope this helps.

All he has to do is look under the hood there will be a white tag listing the gear ratio and the axle size.

on rare ocasions the tag will be in the glove box.

CP98 feeling stupid now for forgetting about the under hood label. (I don't have one on my replacement hood)
