Rear end swap 70 to 80

Does any one know what it would take to install a 80 series duel wheel rear end in place of a single rear wheel 70 series.



The 80 is from a 1996 and my 70 is a 1990 , My shocks mount to the plate the ubolts go through. Do the 80's have the shocks mount to the axle tube. Would the e brake and anti lock be a problem? Thanks Mark

One thing i would look at is the overall width of the dually axle. Was it from a cab/chassis,or a dually p/u?You need to compare spring perch locations,and check axle tube diameter for u bolt size.

I had wondered about that, too......

The D80s can go to a 3. 31 axle ratio, too. Forget if it has a different carrier from the 3. 54s though. Oh well, gotta be cheaper than a GV/ USG o/d unit, for close to the same ratio. HOW fast at 2000rpm?

That should have been HOW fast at 2000rpm, or how many RPM at 80. I knew something didnt look right... .....
