I listened to it for 100's of miles, until it drove me nuts and I turned the music up nice and loud.

I was making a run up to Washington State and I started to hear a whining sound. To me it sounds like it's the rear end.

I narrowed it down to only happening when I'm cruising at between 1800 and 2000 rpm. I'm not on the throttle and not off the throttle, just cruising. When I get on the throttle it stops and when I let off the throttle it stops. It may be a coincidence, but it's right after I put a fiberglass shell on the back of my truck. that's where the thought about the shell comes in. Am I transmitting it through the shell. The whine is very slight and very low. I have to really listen for it. I have 186,000 miles. I did change the rear end and front end lube at about 100,000 and I'm due again. The rear is a dana 70. I'm going to take it in to get checked out, but until then I'm wondering myself more gray hair... .....

Thanks,

Steve
